Ikea Damansara Gateway 1 Day Itinerary

IKEA Damansara is the largest IKEA store in Asia. What is IKEA? IKEA is a Scandinavian home furniture store. Most of the furnitures at IKEA are required buyers to Do it Yourself(DIY). There come the next question. Is it cheap? In my opinion, it is you pay what you get. While, for Mr. Ang, IKEA DIY items are “LEGO” for him. He just enjoys doing all the furniture building and home layout planning. (PS: that is why I married an engineer).

My family members were quite shock that Mr. Ang and I were going to spend our golden weekend at IKEA Damansara. We spent 2 days at IKEA Damansara just to do home furnishing shopping. It was great fun for us. We got to try out some good food around Damansara and Petaling Jaya. I listed the itinerary and the spending as below.

Beggar Chicken @ Ban Heong Seng Restaurant, Johor Bahru

4 October 2015

回门宴, Back home feast is defined as a feast for  married couple to visit maternal house after 3 days of wedding. My sister and brother-in-law visited us on her third day of marriage.  As we have many relatives, we decided to  eat at Ban Heong Seng Restaurant. Ban Heong Seng Restaurant has been famous for its’ beggar chicken for decades. The most importantly it is a home based restaurant. It has this family oriented environment. Thus, we make the reservation one week ahead.

Beggar Chicken 叫化鸡 RM38.00

This chicken is stuffed with lots of herbs. Thus, the chicken meat is well marinated and cook. The meat is so tender soft. Each bite feel like meat floss. Interestingly, our family members are fighting for the gravy not the chicken meat. The gravy goes perfectly with the rice.

Arcar. A well marinated vegetable as appetiser.

Pu Fo Shou 補佛手 RM35.00

The beggar pork hand is well cooked too. Mr. Ang, a person who dislike Chinese style cooking pork hand, also can’t resist the dish. This dish does not have pork smell and greasiness. Pork skin is famous for the collagen. I can’t help eating the pork skin for its tanginess.

Country Fish 家乡鱼RM32.00
Country Fish 家乡鱼RM32.00

This dish is very suitable for people who hate fish bone. The chef scraps the fresh off the skin. The fish fresh is mixed with vegetable and corn flour to make into fish paste. The paste is then carefully placed back into the fish skin to maintain the fish shape.  The end result is as the photo above. Diners do not need to worry for the fish bone as it is actually fish cake.
