At the very end of Mawar Beach is Pulau Mawar, also known as Mawar Island. Set your GPS to “Pantai Mawar” or “Rindu Mawar Beach Resort” for optimal direction guide. At this time, there is no available public transportation. It is common for travellers to drive themselves. Joining a local travel agency is a common practice for those who are elderly or who enjoy nature in Johor Bahru. There will also be a large bus and a trekking guide available. Typically, the price per person ranges from about RM50 to RM70.

Pulau Mawar’s sea arch is well-known. Climbing through the rock and seeing the arch in front of me inspired an overwhelming feeling of wonder, which I still clearly remember. Even though the winds and waves were strong, the magnificent scenery was soothing to my mind. Families that value a more rural way of life will find this place to be ideal due to its beautiful scenery. It was a beautiful place, and we all loved hiking there.

Best Time to Hike

At all times, see the meteorological or tide chart . At about 7:30 am, we set out on our walk. The time of lowest tide has arrived. A large route leads from the beach to the island. We return to the beach for our breakfast picnic at around 9 am. The route is underwater around 10:30 am.

Hiking Routes

Pulau Mawar has two sea arches. Path 1, the easier way, is marked with a white rope along the trail. Path 2, which lacks ropes and signage, is best explored with a hiking guide. Access to Path 2 is only available during low tide.

Regrettably, the picturesque beach adjacent to the sea arch is defiled by a lot of trash.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of trash on the picturesque beach close to the sea arch.

Tips and Tricks to See Sea Arch/ Heaven Gateway

  • It is best to view the sunrise around 7am.
  • It is best to check the tide chart or moon phases calendar
  • It is a great picnic place. Most of the families will have breakfast picnic after sea arch viewing.
  • Evening time is best for kite flying.
  • The mobile connectivity is very weak around Mawar Beach area.
  • The beach are very famous for camping too. Do remember to make an appointment between 8am to 5pm.
  • Only Ringgit Malaysia CASH are acceptable.
  • Leave only footprint.
  • Please take your trash home. There are no rubbish bins around the beach or island.
  • Kids will love this beach.
