Finally, it is baby Chen’s full month celebration. After the family discussion, we decide to celebrate Chen’s full month celebration and mother day together. I am very grateful to have many mothers to help me out with my new borns.
Mother helps me to buy lot of tonic drinks and baby clothes
We selected the classic package. It consisted walnut butter cake, 2 red boiled eggs, 2 Ang Ku Kuih and 3 cupcakes. The simple box design and arrangement of cake in it are very presentable. We choose Matcha Ke-Ki as our early mother day cake. Green tea or matcha is one of the top 10 healthiest food in the world. The cake is topped with fresh fruits. For instance, strawberries, blueberries. As it is not too sweet, the cake is widely received by elder family members. The strawberries are big and sweet. the green tea moose has some sweet red beans in it to multiply the cake texture.
Why not celebrate mother day with special limited edition cake from SDS Bakery and Cafe? Check out the detail at HERE.
When I first vBurgCafe post on theIskandarian and ynz214 blog, I am very happy. Finally, I can
choose vegetarian bakery for my diet. When I was pregnant around 5 weeks, I had a very bad cough. I visited Chinese traditional medical practitioner and was instructed not to consume chicken and egg. After I stop eating chicken and egg, my cough reduced and gone. Since then, I consume more vegetarian meal. That why I am very happy when vBurgCafe is here.
Mr. Sean Tan is the founder of this cafe. He is a vegetarian since young. His passion is baking. Thus, he has visited many countries to learn different baking methods.
To add on, vBurgCafe’s bakery is divided into 3 different categories:
Ovo-Lacto vegetarian 蛋奶素 – contain egg and dairy products
Lacto-vegetarian 奶素 – contained dairy products
Vegan 全素 – exclude egg and dairy products.
I love this categories concept. I can easily choose bread for my lactose intolerance dad. While I can enjoy Lacto vegetarian bread without suffering any allergic effect.
Broccoli baguette RM4.80
Mok Mama choose this dish. The reason is broccoli captured her attention. She seldom see broccoli on top of baguette. I prefer the vegetable spread on top of this bread. The combination of pesto, cashew nut, parsley, broccoli and olive oil produced a super healthy spread.
Pumpkin soup with rye bread RM12.90
A warm milky pumpkin soup with rye bread is very filling. rye bread is made of german black wheat. the texture is very hard and take sometime to chew. Every spoonful of pumpkin soup can taste the pumpkin sweetness. The chef emphasis on good and quality ingredients for all his menu.
Otah croissant RM3.60
Otah croissant is the most popular dish in the cafe. Otah spices are mixed with tofu to create smooth and spicy texture. I am very surprised that the otah cream on the top of croissant is cold. However, the otah inside the croissant is hot. Theses hot and cold combination create a different sensation in diner’s mouth.
Before we leave the shop, the chef is experimenting new dishes. That is vegetarian burger. It will be launched soon(18 February 2017). Hopefully, I can try it on the next visit.

Mr. Ang and LerLer stop by a cafe around Jalan Skudai. It is direct opposite of Majilis Bandaraya Johor Bahru Tengah (MBJBT) office tower. Time for LerLer to tell the readers some old Johor story.
Jalan Skudai is a very old street. Most of the buildings on this street are pre-war period. If you like to experience Malaysia in early 1960-an, you may find the ambiance of this cafe suit you.
Do not worry about the car park lots. The cafe do provide a car park behind of the cafe.
For Johor Bahru folks, we are well aware of all the buzzing streets.
Malt Milk Shake RM9.90. The waitress recommend this drink to us. Frankly speaking, this is the first time I heard of this drink. I prefer it more sweet.
Curry Fish Ball RM6.90. Mr. Ang and LerLer strongly recommend this dish. The bouncy fish balls in savory curry gravy are great combination. BEWARE when getting the first bite. It is truly very hot.
Korean Citron Tea RM6.90.Yogurt Cheese Cake RM12.90 Yam and Coconut Cake RM13.90

After the delicious dinner, we have a small chat with chef Patrick Loh. Chef Patrick Loh has more than 7 years of working experience in Singapore. As Johor Bahru is developing its own gourmet world, Chef Patrick Loh decided to return to Johor Bahru. Owning a cafe is a dream to Chef Patrick Loh . Thus, he named it “Dream Cafe”
Telephone Ring..
Customer: Hi I am at Taman Mount Austin. I can’t find your shop
Boss: Just look up and find the rabbit
I can’t help relate the chef’s story to Matrix – “follow the rabbit” scene
In order to realize his dream, he designed a origami rabbit logo. He was born in the rabbit year. Origami rabbit can be easily recognized from far. Enough of story telling, I will move on to the food pornography.
Appetizer: Fried Oyster with Homemade Tartar Sauce RM13.90
Frozen oyster is fried till golden brown. I enjoy the homemade tartar sauce. It has a bit of spiciness in it. Chef explained to us the reason of using frozen oyster. It is quite hard to have consistent fresh oyster supply. To add on, the price may be fluctuated. Thus, he decided to use frozen oyster to ensure consistency of taste and hygiene of food sauce.
Thai Style Salmon Salad RM14.90
This is not my first time to try Thai fusion salad. Thai dishes focus on very strong tastes. (Spicy, sour or extremely sweet). This dish suit my Malaysian taste bud. The cili padi sauce does not cover up all the other taste. It is very suitable for young and elder.
Cauliflower with Spicy Sour Cream RM8.90
Cauliflower and carrot was boiled to long hours. Cauliflower soup really stand out from other soups. This soup is seldom seen in Johor Bahru food industry. For kids who refuse to eat up vegetables, this soup will be a good remedy for them.
Herb Butter Dory with Raisin Rice RM15.90
Raisin rice may look like briyani rice. It is taste totally different from briyani rice. The rice was first fried with Kunyit powder and boiled with raisin. Every spoonful of rice has slight sweetness. The herb butter sauce is the chef’s secret sauce. It has this buttery flavor with slight spiciness. Thus, it is not oily. I can finish this dish till the end without feeling numbness.
Beef Bolognaise Pasta RM22.90Salmon Steak with Herb Crush RM32.90
The specialty of this dish is the herb crush. The bread crumb is self made by the chef. The bread crumb is mixed with some herbs to give some extra fragrant. The salmon steak has this crunchy crust with tender and juicy salmon meat. Yummy..
