Flavours of Nusantara @ Bricks Family Restaurant, LEGOLAND Hotel
Last Friday (23 Jan 2026) evening, I brought my two boys and my mother-in-law to experience the Flavours of Nusantara Ramadan buffet at the newly refurbished Bricks Family Restaurant in LEGOLAND Hotel. We’ve dined here a few times over the years, but this visit truly felt fresh and festive — thanks to the new interior, the lively atmosphere, and the huge variety of dishes celebrating Malaysia and the whole Nusantara region.
Running from 21 February 2026 (Saturday) to 18 March 2026 (Thursday), this special buffet features over 200 regional dishes, live cooking stations, and a beautifully vibrant LEGO®-themed dining space perfect for families.
🌈 A Bright, LEGO-Inspired Dining Space the Kids Loved
The newly renovated restaurant feels brighter, more cheerful, and thoughtfully designed for families. My kids were instantly drawn to the colourful LEGO models and character graphics. As a parent, I appreciated the spacious, stroller-friendly layout, plus their kid-height dessert counters that make little diners feel extra included.
While waiting for food, my boys happily occupied themselves with colouring sheets, puzzle mats and mini games provided on the activity table mats — a simple but very effective touch!

🍽️ Food Highlights — and What Our Family Tried
The buffet offers a mix of bold traditional flavours, comfort dishes, and interactive cooking stations. Here’s what stood out, especially based on our family’s dietary needs and tastes:
🥗 Great Vegetarian-Friendly Options for My Mother-in-Law
My mother-in-law is a vegetarian. Although she eats egg and milk, she avoids meat and prefers non-spicy dishes. Fortunately, there was a surprisingly wide variety of traditional Malay salads, fresh veggies, and rojak that she enjoyed.
What worked especially well for her:
- Japanese selections that were mild and not spicy
- Vegetarian-friendly items that allowed her to mix and match freely
- Traditional Malay kuih for dessert — she loved these!
It’s always a relief when a buffet accommodates different dietary needs smoothly.
🌶️ Great for Kids Who Prefer Non-Spicy Food
My boys aren’t used to spicy food, so I was glad to see plenty of kid-friendly, mild options like noodles, Japanese dishes, Western items, and desserts. They had no trouble finding favourites to fill their plates.
🍲 My Personal Favourites
I always enjoy exploring traditional flavours, so I gravitated toward the Malay appetizers — the salads, herbs, ulam, and dressings were fascinating and very well-prepared.
And of course, I had to try the Claypot Asam Pedas, especially the seafood version. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. The only catch? It’s popular — so be prepared to queue for this dish! But honestly, the queue was worth it.
🔥 Other Highlights You’ll Find at the Buffet
These dishes added to the excitement of the evening:
- Slow-Roasted Whole Lamb
- Ramen Live Station (Beef or Chicken Soup)
- Black Mussels in Chilli
- Patin Tempoyak
- Daging Salai Daun Selom (Smoked Beef Brisket with Mashed Parsley)
- Daging Kalio (Beef Kalio / Curry Beef)
- Satay Minang
- Bakso
Plus sweet endings like:
- Freshly brewed Turkish coffee
- Live dessert stations serving Kuih Ketayap, cucur durian, cucur jagung, and cucur pisang
All these made the meal feel festive and nostalgic.
🎶 Festive Entertainment
Throughout the evening, traditional music and cultural dance performances added to the atmosphere. My boys were especially captivated — it’s not every day they get to enjoy dinner with live cultural showcases happening around them!
